When I first learned how to play backgammon, I had a little problem.  I could read all the instruction and backgammon books I wanted, but unless I was able to play and learn by experience, I wasn’t going to be a very good backgammon player.  Unfortunately for me, I didn’t have any friends that really played, so I was stuck.

But then when I was reading a “how to play backgammon” book, it made a suggestion for players like me to look into online backgammon as a way to play against other players or the computer and it mentioned you could even play for free if you weren’t comfortable betting money.

I knew immediately that it was a great idea and if I was going to learn how to play backgammon, this would be the perfect way.  So I got on the internet and a simple search of free online backgammon brought up tons of results.  I just checked a few sights to find the most user friendly one and got started.

Playing online backgammon was the perfect way for me to learn.  I got to play for free and started out against a computer.  Once I got comfortable that I wouldn’t embarrass myself, I started playing other online players who actually turned out to be a great source of advice and tips.  Then when I felt good about my game, I moved onto the real money tables and the real fun began.  So, if you’re wondering how to play backgammon, get online.  You’ll be a pro in no time.

Play Online Casinos from Work

September 26th, 2008 by admin

A lot of you might already be active with internet gambling from home.  You’re online casino play doesn’t have to be restricted to home though.  I got the idea to start using my lunch breaks at work to play online casinos.  If you have the ability to do it, I have to say, it’s a nice feeling making some extra money during lunch just playing around.

Now, I know you might be thinking, to play online casinos requires downloading games.  But that’s not the case.  I can’t download things to my work computer either.  Nor would I want to.  Luckily, not all online casinos require downloads.  There are web based casinos that allow you to play with no downloads at all.

The graphics aren’t as good, but the games and money are all there, and that’s the most important part.

Playing online casinos from work has even turned out to be a social thing.  Some of my colleagues were into poker so I let them in on my lunch play.  Now we’re logging on to the same online casinos and joining up at tables to play against each other; now how’s that for colleague bonding.

Of course, the best part is knowing that on the days I step out for lunch, I’m paying with money won playing online casinos during lunch.  It really allowed me to save money and have fun at work, which is great.  And with the extra play time, my game is just getting stronger for my after work play. It’s a win-win situation all around.

Real Money Backgammon Wagers

August 6th, 2008 by admin

Whether online or live, Backgammon is played for a previously settled amount of money. This pre-established sum of money is what is called the wager. The wager can be doubled at any point during a game by using the doubling cube. Doubling the stakes of a game must be done at the beginning of the player’s turn before he has rolled his/her dice, otherwise it will not be a legal doubling. If the player who has been offered the doubling turns it down, he/she looses the game and must pay the total of the agreed initial wager to the challenger.

If on the contrary, he/she accepts the challenge, then the wager will be increased and the game will continue. The player who has accepted a doubling is referred to as “the owner of the dice”, and is the only one who is entitled to originate the next doubling proposition. Following doubles in the same game are denominated redoubles. A player who refuses a redouble is in obligation to pay the total wager that was bet prior to the redouble. If he/she accepts the redouble then, he/she will become the new owner of the dice. Generally speaking, redoubles are limited to 64 times the amount of the original wager.

When playing backgammon online for real money, you will be always requested to make a real money deposit prior to begin playing. Needless to say the wager proposed in the game must not exceed the total of your current player account balance; otherwise you will not be permitted to gamble. One more relevant fact you need to know, online backgammon brands do take a real money commission out of every wager won utilizing a particular formula they have created and published in their sites. So make sure to know what these numbers are.
